The swine flu map is of course an ever changing scenario - possibly changing by the day, dare I say, by the hour?Most travelers now are checking prior to leaving for their destination and those that do venture on to that boat or plane will almost certainly have taken precautions.Arguably travelers are the primary source of spreading the infection and human carriers can act as unwitting hosts and the almost perfect incubator.Most continents are affected although there is an official denial of outbreak in China and Russia - although the West (surprise, surprise) treat the denial with suspicion.We know that The U.S. has a strong swine flu presence as does Mexico. Further north though, in Canada and Alaska reported cases are far less.If we move south we note quite a lot of swine flu activity in Argentina and Brazil's reported cases are increasing too.Europe has been touched too, and in fact the UK is amongst the worst affected country with cases rising daily forcing the government to introduce containment measures and issue help and advice telephone lines.At this point in time Asia seems to be the least affected although Thailand is a possible exception with a high number of reported cases. Authorities there have resorted to thermally scan airline arrivals and all entrants into the country have to complete an extensive medical questionnaire.The best advice if your traveling to an affected area is to step up your personal hygiene routine in addition to paying more than usual attention to your environment. For instance, by; avoiding crowds, keep hard surfaces clean by wiping over with a suitable disinfectant and ensure your food is well cooked (the swine flu virus is killed by cooking to temperatures of 70C).
